Scripture: Ephesians 4:4-6

  1. One God—The shema (Deuteronomy 6:4)
    1. שְׁמַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יְהוָ֥ה ׀ אֶחָֽד׃
    2. The central confession of the Jewish people—Set them apart from the rest of the world
    3. 1 Timothy 1:17—What a list of attributes! And so He’s worthy of glory and honor
    4. Exodus 20:3—God is worthy of all praise, and so He doesn’t want to share it with anyone else
    5. Revelation 14:6, 7—Fear God and give Him glory
      1. v. 7: “And he cried with a mighty voice, Revere God and give Him glory (honor and praise in worship), for the hour of His judgment has arrived. Fall down before Him; pay Him homage and adoration and worship Him Who created heaven and earth, the sea and the springs (fountains) of water” (Amplified).

    3. These verses establish that there are three entities, but what about the unity of the Trinity?
      1. 1 Corinthians 1:3—“χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.
